Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Gypsum is a byproduct of the process used to remove sulfur dioxide emissions from flue gas generated by industrial facilities, particularly power plants burning coal or oil. During this, sulfur dioxide is scrubbed from the flue gas using a chemical reaction, producing a slurry containing calcium sulfite and calcium sulfate. This slurry is then oxidized to form FGD Gypsum, a fine powder rich in calcium sulfate dihydrate.
