This report is the second edition of this hydrogen ICE report. The report covers key vendors and technology as well as forecasts of H2 ICE by type of vehicle/equipment, by region, by power/size, and direct injection vs port fuel. H2 ICE is also compared to other powertrain technologies in terms of pros and cons, total cost of ownership and forecast shipments.
The amount of forecast data and the depth of the insight has been improved since the first edition.

Reduction of greenhouse gases and other pollutants from the global transportation market is the key challenge of the 2020s. Whilst the industry as a whole is shifting toward electrified solutions, it won't be possible to electrify every vehicle - either because of a lack of volume of components, price or technical challenges that cannot be overcome. Other low carbon strategies - like hydrogen ICE - are being investigated and invested in as a way of advancing the reduction of greenhouse gases in applications where electrification is not an option.
