This IDC PlanScape details the importance of infrastructure architecture."Most of the time, when people think about infrastructure, they just see boxes and lines; in its simplest form, that is a true depiction, but infrastructure needs to be the dial tone of the organization," says Janice Buchanan, adjunct research advisor for IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "You need to know that you can pick up the receiver, and the dial tone will be there, no matter how sophisticated the technology or the delivery model. The organization needs to know that it can count on it to be there. A well-defined and maintained infrastructure architecture brings that piece of mind."
