Market Highlights

An aircraft band clamp is a band-shaped tool that consists of a wide metallic strap fabricated with different profiles to efficiently hold, secure, and join the connections of ducts, tubes, pipes, in an engine, aerostructures, and other applications of the aircraft where strength, quick adjustment, flexibility, reliability, or customization is needed. They can be tied and tightened around the connections and can be adjusted according to different shapes and diameters.

There are 2 types of band clamps: T-bolt band clamp and V-band clamp. In the T-band clamps, metallic straps are assembled with forged T-bolt and are widely used for holding ducts and hoses at high vibrations. The V-band clamps consist of a series of profiled segments fabricated on the outer metallic strap and are used to pull two circular flanges together. The band clamps are available with different closure mechanisms, such as quick coupler, bolted latch, and lever styles, to provide an easier way to remove clamps without having to undo the bolt or nut.

The outbreak of COVID-19 had devasted the aircraft industry with a massive decline due to supply chain disruption, a halt in operations, and a dramatic drop in air passenger traffic. The mammoth decline in the aircraft industry has severely affected the entire supply chain of the industry. The aircraft band clamps market, also could not escape itself and experienced a colossal decline of (-35%+ in 2020) amid the pandemic.

The year 2021 has asserted some positive signs towards the recovery of the market, with the ease of government-imposed air travel restrictions. However, the glitches in B787 programs, further waves of the pandemic, and delays in market entry of COMAC C919 aircraft had dragged the market recovery. The long-term market outlook still seems propitious with ample growth opportunities for industry stakeholders propelled by the market entry of new aircraft programs. Overall, the aircraft band clamp market is estimated to grow at a decent CAGR of 11.4% during the forecast period to reach a value of US$ 246.4 Million in 2027.

Market Segments' Analysis

Based on the aircraft type, the aircraft band clamp market is segmented as commercial aircraft, regional aircraft, helicopter, military aircraft, and general aviation. Commercial Aircraft is expected to be the fastest-growing aircraft type in the market during the forecast period driven by the expected rebounding of air passenger traffic, reapproval of B737 Max, and projected ramp-up in production rates of key aircraft programs. Furthermore, both aerospace giants, Boeing and Airbus, are optimistic about the market recovery, in the long run, forecasting over 40,000 commercial and regional aircraft deliveries in the next twenty years, assuring a sustainable demand for band clamps in the coming years.

Based on the application type, the market is segmented into engines and others. The engine is expected to remain the dominant application in the market during the forecast period as it consists of maximum connections of ducts, tubes, and hoses which need to be connected intact to withstand intense temperature and pressure.

Based on the band material type, the market is segmented as steel/stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, nickel alloys, and others. Steel/stainless steel is projected to remain dominant in the market during the forecast, owing to its various benefits over other materials, such as the ability to withstand extreme vibrations, shock, temperature, and pressure. Steel/stainless steel is also cost-effective as compared to titanium and nickel alloys.

Based on the band clamp type, the market is segmented as T-bolt band clamp and V-band clamp. The t-Bolt band clamp is expected to remain the most dominant clamp type during the forecast period as they are used in a majority of functionalities in engine and other aircraft applications to hold all types of ducts, tubes, and hoses. It is also cost-effective and inhibits several properties, strengthening the connectivity in extreme temperature and pressure.

In terms of regions, North America is expected to remain the largest region during the forecast period due to the presence of a large number of OEMs: such as Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin; tier players, and raw material suppliers in the region. The North American market is highly competitive with the presence of a large number of leading global players, such as TransDigm Inc., Eaton Corporation, Voss Industries Inc., and Caillau in the region.

Key Players

The supply chain of the aircraft band clamp market comprises raw material suppliers, tier players, distributors, aeroengine OEMs, aircraft OEMs, and airlines. Major manufacturers of band clamps have developed a high brand identity over a period by fulfilling the emerging demands of the aircraft OEMs and other end users by maintaining the quality and standards of the products. Hence, major players have developed a strong foothold in the market, which is acting as a barrier to new entrants up to an extent. The following are some of the key players in the aircraft band clamps market.
