According to Stratistics MRC, the Global Armored Vehicle Upgrade and Retrofit Market is accounted for $6.62 billion in 2023 and is expected to reach $10.42 billion by 2030 growing at a CAGR of 6.7% during the forecast period. The transportation and ground combat vehicles used for a variety of offensive and defensive activities are known as armored vehicles. These vehicles are typically used for operations in live battles as well as the transport of military personnel, equipment, and supplies.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), a Sweden-based international research institute on arms control, transfers, and non-proliferation.

Market Dynamics:

Driver:

Unmanned armored vehicles' emergence

In the armored vehicle market, unmanned armored vehicles are a significant trend that is gaining popularity. Unmanned armored vehicle deployment is being experimented with by military organizations all around the world to learn more about what these systems might bring and how to best integrate them into current power structures. For instance, the first autonomous armored vehicle from SOORAN that might fight on battlefields and operate from a distance in March 2020 piqued the curiosity of the Indian Army.

Restraint:

High cost and regulatory hurdles

The transportation and ground combat vehicles used for a variety of offensive and defensive activities are known as armored vehicles. These vehicles are typically used for operations in live battles as well as the transport of military personnel, equipment, and supplies. Compliance with a variety of regulatory standards, such as safety and environmental restrictions, may be necessary while upgrading and retrofitting armored vehicles. The complexity and cost of the upgrading process may increase as a result of these laws, particularly if the vehicle is being modified for usage in several nations, each with a distinct set of requirements.

Opportunity:

Global market expansion and focus on sustainability

The market for armored vehicle upgrades and retrofits has historically been dominated by a small number of major manufacturers, although there is potential for growth. For instance, rising economies are expanding their defense budgets and need to modernize their fleets of armored vehicles through upgrades and retrofits. This offers businesses the chance to create and provide improvements and retrofits that lessen the impact of armored vehicles on the environment, such as by increasing fuel efficiency or reducing emissions.

Threat:

Technological obsolescence

Upgrades and retrofits for armored vehicles necessitate the integration of new systems and technologies, and keeping up with this pace of change can be challenging. This may cause earlier improvements and retrofits to become obsolete, necessitating more upgrades earlier than expected.

COVID-19 Impact:

The pandemic has hampered supply chains and delayed the delivery of systems and components, which has hindered businesses' capacity to carry out upgrade and retrofit projects. The epidemic has also caused some nations to cut back on their defense budgets, which has decreased the number of new orders for armored vehicle upgrades and retrofits. The pandemic has increased the need for upgrades and retrofits to enhance the capabilities of current fleets because of the importance of armored vehicles in sustaining national security and responding to disasters.

The infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) segment is expected to be the largest during the forecast period

As many nations have sizable fleets of these vehicles that require modifications and retrofits, the IFV segment accounts for the largest share throughout the forecast period. The armor protection, fire control, and communications equipment of the vehicle may all be upgraded, and new technologies like unmanned systems, sensors, and situational awareness systems may also be incorporated. Moreover, armored vehicles called infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) are used to carry men into battle while also providing fire support. They frequently have cannons, machine guns, and occasionally anti-tank guided missiles as weapons.

The tracked armored vehicles segment is expected to have the highest CAGR during the forecast period

Tracked Armored Vehicles segment is estimated to witness profitable growth over the projection period. Tracked armored vehicles have continuous tracks supporting them rather than wheels, which improves their off-road performance, mobility, and traction. Many nations also own a sizable fleet of outdated tracked armored vehicles that require refurbishment and advancement. Furthermore, the armor protection, mobility, and firepower of the vehicle may all be enhanced, and new technologies like sensors, situational awareness systems, and unmanned systems may also be included.

Region with largest share:

North America is anticipated to dominate the market during the forecast period as a result of continuing projects, increased defense spending over time, a large ground vehicle fleet, and further modernization to include cutting-edge technologies in the fleet of armored vehicles. Additionally, due to the widespread use of cutting-edge technology and the presence of major competitors in this area, the market in the region is projected to have ample opportunity for expansion.

Region with highest CAGR:

There are substantial investments made by the military forces in the region in the modernization of current land platforms, the Middle East and African region is anticipated to experience a rapid expansion rate throughout the projected period. Moreover, governments in the region have invested in bolstering their armed forces as a result of rising insecurity, violent conflicts, and threats from insurgent groups like the Boko Haram insurgency and al-Shabab militants, among others, across a number of geopolitical zones in recent years.
