The collision avoidance systems market is anticipated to increase at a CAGR of 12.32%, from US$14.532 billion in 2020 to US$32.777 billion by 2027.

The collision avoidance system is a safety feature used in vehicles that is intended to either prevent collisions or lessen their severity. The market for collision avoidance systems is primarily driven by the increase in traffic accidents around the world. The need for collision avoidance systems is being further driven up by the increased attention being paid to worker safety in sectors like material handling. However, the expensive cost of these systems is restraining their acceptance and limiting the market's total growth.

Growing number of traffic crashes to fuel market expansion

Due to a variety of circumstances, including driver inattention, driver tiredness, and lack of coordination, among others, which can cause accidents and put other people's lives in danger, there has been an increase in the number of accidents and rushes on the roads. As a result, there is an increasing need for collision avoidance systems that can either help the driver avoid a collision or can prevent a collision on both the forward and backward sides of the vehicle. The government is making greater efforts to decrease the number of traffic accidents and increase public safety by implementing new policies and programs.

Rising efforts of Government and market players driving the growth of market

By introducing new programs and regulations that must be followed, the government is making greater efforts to decrease the frequency of traffic accidents and promote public safety. In addition, a growing number of market participants are developing and releasing new and improved products to meet the growing demand from the automotive sector, which will help to lower the accident rate, strengthen their position in the market, and support market growth.

By Geography

Geographically, Collision avoidance system market is segmented as North America, South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific. Europe has the greatest market share in the world for collision avoidance systems due to the widespread use of these systems in EU member states and the existence of laws requiring their use. The Asia Pacific region is anticipated to be fastest growing market owing to increasing government regulations regarding collision avoidance system installation.

Key Developments:

  • March 2022: HxGN MineProtect Collision Avoidance System version 10 (also known as CAS 10) Hexagon's Mining division condenses advanced technologies into just two pieces of hardware: a smart antenna and a five-inch LCD display. The ultra-wide band time of flight, GPS, RF, Wi-Fi, and LTE technologies are all integrated into the smart antenna. The touchscreen in-cabin display has a contemporary UI/UX that is compatible with Hexagon's other on-board solutions. This results in an improved driving experience, shorter deployment and training times, less complicated supply chains, and higher operator adoption. With 360-degree operator awareness for vehicles, assets, and operators in open pit mines, CAS 10safeguards drivers and machinery. MineProtect utilizes the same hardware to incorporate systems for vehicle intervention, operator vigilance, object detection, and personal protection in addition to collision avoidance.
  • June 2021: An international mining technology company called Becker Mining Systems unveiled Smartdetect, a GPS-Based Collision Avoidance System made specifically for use in surface mining operations. By recognizing nearby cars and infrastructure within its range, Smartdetect gives vehicle operators the confidence they need to work effectively and securely. By giving operators a complete 360-degree view of their surroundings, Smartdetect promotes operator awareness because mining conditions can occasionally be unintentionally dangerous. The company uses cutting-edge technology for the system's core and a user-friendly interface with real-time environmental data shown for increased reliability and safety. The controller, exterior cameras placed at each vehicle's extremes, and the touch-screen display, which shows the operator a view of their surroundings, make up the three main parts of Smartdetect.

Product Offerings:

  • RASIC™ - 77/79 GHz front-end radar sensor: RASIC™ - 77/79 GHz front-end radar sensor is used for vehicle assistance technologies like collision prevention and adaptive cruise control. Radar 77/79 GHz RF Millimeter Wave IC family (RASICTM RXS816xPL), Radar MCU family with radar signal processing units (2nd generation AURIXTM TC3xx), Radar system power supply with numerous safety functions (TLF3068x), and Very compact 3-chip configuration (RXS816xPL+ AURIXTM TC3xx + TLF3068x) for applications like AEB sensor are all available from Infineon. Automatic emergency braking (AEB) and high-resolution radars used in autonomous driving are both compatible with radar operating at 77/79 GHz. It offers MIMO transmitter operation with simultaneous operation and accurate distance measuring.
  • TailGUARD Reversing Collision Avoidance System: The first Reversing Collision Avoidance System for commercial vehicles is TailGUARD active safety technology by ZF Friedrichshafen AG. The technology is made to find both stationary and moving objects in the vehicle's rear-view mirror. The device helps the driver when doing reversing movements by providing warning and active braking. TailGUARD can automatically stop the car to prevent any approaching collisions. By doing so, this technology can significantly increase both safety and vehicle uptime. The capabilities and features of TailGaurd include up to six ultrasonic sensors, automatic activation when the driver selects the reverse gear, brakes pulse to alert the driver when the reverse speed is too high, provides a customizable stopping distance, which applies to both trucks and trailers and integrates with ZF's scalable, modular ADAS suite.
