This IDC Market Perspective provides an overview of key developments in corporate sustainability and ESG in EMEA. Between geopolitical and macroeconomic volatility and ESG pushback on the one hand and the visible urgency for climate action on the other, topics around risk mitigation and resilience come to the fore in sustainability initiatives. More than ever, tech vendors are required to showcase business benefits from standalone sustainability initiatives as well as from sustainability built into digital transformation initiatives."Sustainability practitioners are experiencing a variety of headwinds, while the need for action on the climate and other ESG crises are becoming increasing visible. Technology is recognized as a key enabler for sustainability, yet many companies have not mastered the ESG data challenge in a way that generates business benefits as well as positive ESG impact," said Katharina Grimme, associate vice president and research lead on sustainability, IDC Europe.
