This IDC PeerScape draws on interviews with IT leaders from multiple enterprises who have overseen successful platform engineering initiatives to provide guidance on how businesses may best approach the adoption of platform engineering and the implementation of an IDP. By highlighting key challenges that they have faced and their strategies for overcoming them, this document identifies best practices that will enhance the ability of the typical business to implement an IDP that delivers true value over the long term."Platform engineering solves many challenges, but it also creates some new ones," says Chris Tozzi, adjunct research advisor for IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "Mitigating those challenges starts with adopting best practices that streamline the value provided by platform engineering and IDPs."
