Catalyst projects are an effective barometer to gauge industry progress in addressing specific challenges, adopting new technologies, and building innovative solutions in areas such as 5G, network API monetization, and edge computing."While generative AI (GenAI) is not a major theme at DTW this year, AI is pervasive. This is important because to fully embrace GenAI, comms SPs must first position AI more firmly within their internal and external-facing platforms," says John Byrne, research VP, Comms SP Operations and Monetization at IDC. "It's also clear that even though the initial hype over metaverse applications has faded somewhat, comms SPs still see significant potential in being able to build immersive, virtual experiences for their consumer and enterprise customers."
