"Global digital gaming market reaches new high, according to the yStats.com report."

Germany-based secondary market research specialist yStats.com has released a new publication entitled “Global Digital Gaming Market 2018”. The report highlights the growth of online and mobile games worldwide.

Mobile games still in the lead

Mobile games accounted for a major share of global digital gaming sales in 2018, and are projected to remain in the lead through 2020, as yStats.com reports. The second largest segment of digital game sales are Free-to-Play Mass Multilayer Online games, with the success of Fortnite: Battle Royale making a major contribution.

China outpaces others in digital gaming market size

China ranks number one by digital gaming sales, as the yStats.com report reveals. More than one in two mobile Internet users in China play games on their phones and two-thirds of overall digital gaming sales are generated on mobile. Tencent dominates the country's gaming landscape, followed by Netease. Other major digital gaming markets worldwide, such as the USA and the UK, are also on the growth path.

Emerging technology drives further growth in gaming

While mobile phones continue to outrank other gaming devices in popularity, digital game developers increasingly have emerging tech devices, such as VR headsets, on their radar. Other top gaming devices in developers' view include Nintendo Switch and PS4/Pro, according to the findings of the yStats.com report.
