  • The development of the economies of the Latin American countries depends greatly on the actions of the governments of those countries; plastic pipe and non-plastic pipe related. However, the rate of development of the infrastructure utilizing plastic pipes, in turn, depends on advancement of the policies of economic development.

As adoption of municipality and utility infrastructure improvement projects accelerates, emigrants from outside of the region have transferred billions of dollars in direct assistance to their relatives. As the transfer of funds arrive to the region, the rapid modernization of residential building infrastructures is facilitated. Additionally, factors driving expansion investment include the steady increase in population and economic growth.

Sagasu Concepts defines plastic pipe consumption (use) when it is deployed, meaning when the plastic pipe is installed and/or utilized. The assumption is that most plastic pipe is installed within the same year that it was purchased; therefore, the year-by-year inventory value is relatively insignificant.

Plastic pipe deployment expansion in less developed countries is being driven by pent up demand of a large segment of the un-served population, agricultural and mining demands and the necessity to encourage foreign investment.

Sagasu Concepts forecasts the Latin American consumption volume (quantity in linear meters) of plastic pipe to increase at an average annual growth rate of 5.9 percent, from 419 million meters in 2010 to 557 million meters in 2015. Consumption is forecast to then grow at an average annual rate of 5.2 percent, reaching 717 million meters in the year 2020.
