Extract from this report

  • After six years of decline, the number of building permits issued for residences in Hungary in 2014 rose significantly, close to 30% year on year. The size of the useful floor area in homes for which a building permit was held last year also rose considerably in 2014, exceeding 1 million m2.
  • We expect residential construction output in Poland to stabilise at about PLN 14bn (€3.3bn) in the following years, though the actual performance of the segment will depend on the efficiency of the state's tools aimed to support the residential development market.

Market commentary by expert

"The medium-term prospects for the Central European residential construction market are good, with a more positive outlook for long-term developments. The stabilisation of the market in terms of housing prices seems eventually to have been completed in 2014. In late 2014 and early 2015 many new projects were restarted or commenced. This is a trend which is expected to continue in 2015, particularly with the revival of previously frozen projects."
