Last year the growth of the Ukrainian IT market was driven by the strong demand for support, maintenance and IT outsourcing services. IT vendors also mention an increased complexity and scale of the government projects in 2012. There will be ongoing strong demand for IT security systems in 2013-2014 which we explain by further expansion of banks and retail online.
In the hardware area the market of tablet PCs and e-book readers showed an impressive growth last year which can be explained by the initial stage of its development, low maturity and declining prices of the tablet computers. IT distribution remains relatively stable. Practically all biggest distributors remained in business after the crisis (however their product portfolios are relatively dynamic). The changes take place in the second tier of re-sellers and dealers which work with the national distributors in their specific regions. Fast development of online sales of computer hardware in Ukraine makes it possible for the users to compare the prices in several stores in the internet therefore the retailers need to lower price to remain competitive.
