  • The internet is currently one of the most promising sales channels for the home furnishings market in Poland. This year has been stronger than 2013. The main advantage has been the improving economy, as well as the increasing consumption. On the other hand, the market has not improved significantly and the average consumer is still not motivated to increase their spending very much.
  • Virtually all channels apart from the internet are experiencing difficulties due to high competition on one hand, and general condition of the economy on the other.
  • In terms of sales value, the leaders of the market are IKEA, Castorama and Jysk.

“The market of home furnishings in Poland has recently been experiencing considerable problems. On one hand this has been caused by a change in the consumer attitudes, as they either decided not to make any purchases, or were highly price-oriented. On the other, the expansion of the largest chains has resulted in a greater consolidation of the market, and therefore also in difficulties for the small or medium-sized players. However, good development prospects have been a positive aspect of the market, and they are likely to bring growth this year.” Jaroslaw Frontczak, Head Retail Analyst.
