The end-users for this market comprises of dental clinics, hospitals, and dental practitioners. The major driving factor of the global dental equipment market are upsurge in ageing population, growing demand for cosmetic dentistry growing incidence of dental caries and other periodontal diseases, and rapid adoption of innovative technologies (CAD/CAM). The major restraining factor of the global dental equipment market are heavy taxation on dental devices and lack of awareness. The upsurge on dental disorders and increasing medical and dental tourism in emerging countries are acting as an opportunity in the global dental equipment market.

An upsurge in ageing population is one of the major driving factor for the global dental equipment market. The world population continues to grow geriatric rapidly, as fertility rates have dropped to extremely low levels in most of the regions and populace tend to live longer. According to U.S. Census Bureau, it is estimated that the global population was 7 billion in 2012, and aged 65 and above was 562 million which is about 8%. However, in 2015, the geriatric population rose by 55 million and the older population witnessed to about 8.5% of the total population. An increasing proportion of old people retain some or all of their natural teeth. However, the dental and teeth prostheses of elder adults are prone to oral disease; this generates a requirement for maintenance and possibly replacement. The incidence of caries has decreased noticeably among both adults and children; however, the prevalence of caries among elder adults aged 65 years and above remains high. Elder adults are at larger risk for dental caries as compared to younger adults because of poor diet, age related salivary changes, and exposure of root surfaces through gingival collapse.

The products segment is further segmented into diagnostic dental equipment, dental lasers, systems and parts, laboratory machines and hygiene maintenance devices. Geographically, the global dental equipment market is segmented into North America, Asia Pacific, Europe and Rest of World. The north America is the dominating region in the global dental equipment market, due to the highest incidence of oral health problems in North America and increasing healthcare expenditure, according to American dental association in U.S. dental services expenditure is raised by 4.2% in 2015 which is about $117.5 billion, the expenses for dental services which results for 40 % of dental expenditure increased by 1.8 % in the year 2015 after increasing 0.8 % in 2014.
