About Coalbed Methane

Coal bed methane in an unconventional gas that is formed during the coalification process. Methane is absorbed by coal and is held by water pressure. Pumping out of the water reduces the pressure and releases the gas, which follows the water out of the well and is used as a fuel. Coal bed methane is rich in methane, which constitutes 99% of the gas. It is indistinguishable from conventionally produced natural gas and can be transported via gas pipelines or in a liquefied form.
