About Vacuum Heat Treatment

Heat treatment includes atmosphere heat treatment and vacuum heat treatment. Vacuum heat treatment is preferred for ferrous metals such as bronze, steel, brass, and titanium alloys. This type of heat treatment involves the use of a vacuum furnace in which metals are heated to a particular temperature for the purpose of changing their metallurgical properties.

Vacuum furnaces can heat the metals up to 1100°C-1500°C, and also subject them to different types of processes such as annealing, hardening, and quenching and brazing and carburizing. In vacuum heat treatment, the absence of air and other gases in the furnace prevents heat transfer due to convection. This eliminates the possibility of contamination. In addition, the vacuum heat treated parts have excellent surface finishing.
