About Wireless Power Transmission

Wireless power transmission also known as wireless energy transfer is a process that takes place in a system where electromagnetic energy is transmitted from a power source to an electric load without wires. Wireless power transmission is mainly utilized in the cases where interconnecting wires are hazardous and not feasible. Wireless power transmission is being used for transmitting power to distant and remote areas. The concept of wireless power transmission was first introduced by Nikola Tesla in 1899 while demonstrating the transmission of 100 million volts of electricity to a distance of 26 miles. Currently, wireless power transmission is being used mostly in consumer electronics, which include smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Wireless power transmission technology is also implemented in healthcare, defense, and industrial applications and in the development of electric vehicles and wireless charging.
