About RF Power Amplifier

An RF power amplifier is a semiconductor device that converts an electrical signal into a radio signal. It uses transistors to consume power in either output signal mode or standby mode. RF power amplifier is used in wireless communication devices such as cellphones, tablets, and radio sets. This amplifier is technologically advanced and compatible with 3G and 4G technologies. Depending on the applications, RF power amplifier is designed and developed to work on various frequency bands. It is extremely compact in size and can fit easily in smartphones and other wireless communication devices. Some of the other wireless communication devices that use RF devices are notebooks, e-readers, and GPS devices. However, one of the major problems that an RF power amplifier face today is power inefficiency. RF power amplifier wastes around 65 percent of its energy to draining of battery, while running high-performance computing applications on smartphones.
