About Molecular Cytogenetics

Molecular cytogenetics is the combination of molecular biology and cytogenetics. It increases the resolution and diagnostic utility of cytogenetic analysis. FISH, which is molecular cytogenetic technique, is used for the identification of genetic disorders and the detection of chromosomal genetic abnormalities. CGH, which is also a molecular cytogenetic technique, is used to analyze the variations in copy numbers of the test sample by comparing it with the normal reference sample without using any cell culture.
