The US & Europe Markets for Optical Coherence Tomographers covers 16 Countries.
The market for OCTs includes devices that perform posterior segment imaging. These devices are used for specifically imaging the retina. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography offers physicians a method for imaging the cornea, as well as other anterior segments of the eye in high-resolution cross-sectional and three-dimensional images. Anterior segment imaging is performed by the Visante™ OCT, a device manufactured by Carl Zeiss Meditec, and is not included in the market analysis and forecast. The Visante™ OCT is only used by corneal specialists and does not compete with other OCTs in the market.
This report contains units sold, market value, forecasts, as well as detailed competitive market shares and analyses of major players' success strategies in each market and segment.
This report analyzes and evaluates the current state of the market including existing and potential markets, product average selling prices, and unit volumes. The report also highlights the opportunities and potential hazards involved, and presents strategies for successfully navigating the market landscape. Furthermore, it seeks to identify the trends and technologies that will affect the future of each market segment and prepares an unbiased critical assessment of such market drivers and limiters based on our “ground up” approach, which includes primary and secondary research methods. (US) The strong demand for optical coherence tomographers (OCTs) seen in recent years persisted into 2013 and many physicians acquired the device to differentiate their practices. Overall growth in unit sales reflects strong growth in the sales of combination OCT devices.
In an effort to cater to the precise workflow requirements in ophthalmology and optometry settings, several of the largest OCT manufacturers have launched devices that combine OCT with another form of retinal imaging. The most common combination is OCT with fundus photography, although OCT has been combined with scanning laser ophthalmoscope equipment (SLO) as well.
