This IDC study discusses the differences in cloud maturity and attitudes toward cloud by organizational size and provides an opportunity for cloud buyers to benchmark themselves against similarly sized organizations. Medium-sized and large enterprises currently have much higher cloud adoption rates and have more evolved cloud strategies than SMBs. This document looks into detail at the differences in cloud maturity based on IDC's 2013 CloudTrack Survey and explains why such a gap exists.

"In theory, SMBs should be using more cloud services than they are," said Benjamin McGrath, research analyst for IDC's SaaS and Cloud Software. "But the smallest of organizations are way behind in terms of cloud adoption, citing an overall lack of resources within the IT department that can help make certain processes ready for the cloud. And while growth in the cloud market will continue to be driven by medium-sized and large enterprises, as the majority will soon have mature cloud strategies, the adoption rates of SMBs will grow, and there is a lot to gain in the cloud for organizations of all sizes."
