"The European HCM applications market continues to flourish. The two-billion-dollar market experienced double-digit growth in 2012 despite a subdued macroeconomic climate in Europe. Technology developments have completely changed the face of HCM applications, which now mimics consumer applications in terms of intuitiveness, application consumption directly from the Internet, and choice in terms of end-user device," said Bo Lykkegaard, research director, IDC European Applications. "The new user is not the HR professional but rather the employee and the manager, and the new applications go way beyond the transactional scope of the traditional core HR applications. Already, strategic HCM applications account for almost half of the entire HCM market, yet the upside for future growth in the coming years is significant."
