This IDC study analyses and identifies the key trends that are impacting the Australia's IT services market. The uptake of the 3rdPlatform technologies (e.g., mobility, big data/analytics, and social) and service delivery models like cloud are changing the way IT Buyers "consume" technology. Organisations are reorienting themselves to conduct business in the expanding world of cloud and Web/online. The Australia IT services market is forecast to grow from A$15.3 billion in 2013 to A$17.7 billion in 2018 at a CAGR of 3.1% over the five-year forecast period of 2014-2018.
"IDC's worldwide CIO research reveals that in the next two years, over 70% of CIOs across large organizations will witness a change in their primary role - from directly managing IT to becoming innovation partners to their business. As this change happens, CIOs will have a new set of roles that includes the management of innovation, information intelligence, customer experience, and digital business presence," says Raj Mudaliar, senior market analyst, IT services research group at IDC Australia.
"As the platform technologies become a harbinger of innovation, CIOs and IT managers will increasingly look to external support providers for help in building, managing, and maintaining the enterprise IT infrastructure of the future. In such engagements, businesses will turn to technology partners to coinvest in solution development for internal and external-facing transformation projects."
