With the exception of Mauritius and the Seychelles, the tourism industry in East Africa is generally much less developed than in most parts of the world. Fears about safety and crime as well as health and disease are off-putting for some visitors but with a wide range of activities, there is great potential for each country in the region to increase both visitor numbers and tourism revenue.
