Retail volume growth of hot drinks overall declined further and value growth rose only slightly faster in 2015 than in the previous year, driven by higher commodity prices and a weaker yen, which forced manufacturers and, to a significant but lesser extent, retailers, to raise unit prices, especially on imported products. The unit price of coffee, sales of which have continued to benefit as consumers keep demanding Third Wave Coffee and migrating from tea and other hot drinks.
