Issued in January 2015, the latest Ministry of Trade's legislation, Permendag No. 06/M-DAG/PER/1/2015, bans the sale of class A alcoholic drinks in traditional grocery retailers such as convenience stores and independent small grocers. As a result, beer and RTDs/high-strength premixes, which rely heavily on these two channels for the bulk of their distribution, witnessed a drastic decline in total volume sales in 2015. With beer accounting for a 92% volume share of alcoholic drinks sales in Indonesia.
