The report identifies the opportunities on the global lighting fixtures market and is a helpful tool for lighting fixtures exporters as it contains a rich collection of key country data, allowing comparisons among specific interest areas.
The world production, consumption, imports and exports of lighting fixtures are broken down by geographical area (European Union 25 + Norway and Switzerland, Central-East Europe outside the EU & Russia, Asia and Pacific, Middle East and Africa, North and South America).
International trade statistics (imports and exports) 2014-2019 are given at country-level both for lighting fixtures and lamps, highlighting the major exporting and importing countries and providing main destination countries of exports and main origin countries of imports. The twenty-fifth edition of the World Trade of Lighting Fixtures Report provides an overview of evolution of trade flows of lighting fixtures and lamps until 2019 and forecast for 2020. In 2019 the world trade of lighting fixtures between the 70 countries covered by the report (representing the whole global production and 98% of global consumption) has declined both in terms of imports (US$ 41 billion; -5.1%) and exports (US$ 43 billion; -8.4%). After this 2019 setback, mainly caused by political frictions and a general slowdown of the world economy, the trade of luminaires is projected to further worsen in 2020 to US$ 37 billion, as the Covid-19 has severely deteriorated the international flows of goods.
China is the largest producer and exporter of lighting fixtures and, since 2019 also the largest consumer; Despite a strong contraction in 2019, Chinese exports account for 50% of the total value of lighting fixtures exports. The United States, on the other hand, is the importer.
The report provides an analysis of lamps trade as well. During 2019, the world trade of lamps confirmed the trend highlighted for lighting fixtures: exports fell by 10%, imports by 11%.
