The worldwide market for lighting fixtures is estimated to be worth USD 88 billion in 2014, excluding lamps and lighting controls. Growth during 2014 has been about 7% in comparison with the previous year. Expected lighting fixtures market growth, for the coming five years, is about 5.5% per year. The worldwide market for lighting fixtures will be around USD 115 billion in 2019.

The worldwide market for LED based lighting fixtures is about USD 28 billion in 2014, with a 35% growth in comparison with the previous year. 2015 will probably reach USD 36 billion, with a further 28% increase. LED lighting fixtures weighted just 5%-6% on the overall lighting fixtures market in 2008-2009. In the year 2015 they weight around 39% and their share is forecasted to grow up to 60% within 2019. LED is now firmly a member of the conventional lighting portfolio. Within 3-4 years it is reasonable that OLEDs will start to have a significant foothold in the market.
One hundred among the top manufacturers of lighting fixtures hold around 53% of the total LED lighting market in 2014. LED lighting fixtures for this large group of companies increased by around 27% in 2014, compared to the year before. LED share on company sales was about 13% on average in the year 2009 and it is now (2014) 48%.
Most of the successful companies for which financial data are available show an EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) equal or in excess of 10%.
