With a wide range of application in different industries like auto, construction and medical treatment, etc., specialty elastomer has drawn more and more attention from global manufacturers in recent years. Executive summary:

In 2012, China consumed around XXXX tonnes of specialty elastomers, which accounted for XXXX% of total global consumption that year. It is widely believed that specialty elastomers have great potential to do well, they are estimated to maintain a stable consumption growth rate in the next two years. At present, the consumption of specialty elastomers accounts for XXXX% of that of synthetic rubbers. The automotive industry is currently the main driving force behind the development of the specialty elastomer market. However, it is predicted that the consumption growth of some specialty elastomers may slow down, because of policies that limit the allocation of vehicle licenses and high production costs.

China's specialty elastomers mainly include fluoroelastomer (FKM), silicone elastomer (VMQ), Hydrogenate nitrile rubber(HNBR), Nd-based Butadiene rubber (NdBR), Acrylate rubber (ACM) and Epichlorohydrin rubber (ECO), etc. Among these kinds of specialty elastomers, VMQ, NdBR and FKM are the three most consumed specialty elastomers, and are used in various industries across China. In recent years, the development of silicone elastomers have maintained a stable upward trend. Fluoroelastomer has also shown great potential as it has the achieved the fasted level of growth in consumption. At present, because of China's production technology the domestic specialty elastomer products is unable to meet the demand of the domestic market due to the immaturity of production technology. Specialty elastomers still highly rely on imports from foreign countries.

Specialty elastomers are widely used in various industries, including the automotive, petrol, aerospace and electronic & electrical industies. Of all these industries, it is the automotive industry that is the main downstream industry of specialty elastomers. Specialty elastomers are widely used in the production of rubber parts for the automotive industry, these parts include rubber tubings, rubber sealing elements, shock absorbers and tires, etc. Apart from tires, rubber sealing element has become the biggest consumption application of specialty elastomers in automobile parts. Not counting its application in the production of tires, about XXXX% of specialty elastomers consumed are used in producing rubber sealing elements and XXXX% are used in the production of rubber tubings. As a raw material of automobile parts, XXXX% of all NdBR is used to produce automobile tires, whilst VMQ and FKM are widely used in producing rubber tubings and sealing elements, etc.

In the future, specialty elastomers are expected to keep developing and growing. This is due to the growing demand for automobile parts such as rubber tubings and sealing elements, which will subsequently increase the the demand for specialty elastomers.
