In China, the total corn planting area is about 33.33 million ha (500 million mu). Heilongjiang Province has always been the one to have the largest corn planting area. Considering its leading position in corn planting, CCM will introduce the corn seed industry in the province to you in detail in this issue.

There are about 1,000 corn varieties in China. Among these varieties, some stand out in the market competition. They enjoy good reputations and large market shares and they are vigorously promoted. Thus, which varieties are promoted by the MOA? Who are their developers and what varieties are promoted by each provinces and cities? In this issue, CCM will answer all these questions for you.

In China, corn seeds have a relatively high market value. Attracted by this, foreign seed enterprises vigorously promote their corn seed products in China, hoping to capture more market shares. There are many popular foreign corn varieties promoted in China.

The MOA promoted 31 corn varieties, of which ten are promoted in Northern China.

The MOA released 31 corn varieties, among which 11 are the major varieties in Huang-huai-hai region. Details about these 11 major corn varieties will be analyzed in this article.

The MOA released 31 corn varieties, of which ten are the major varieties promoted in Southern China.

Corn seed demand in Heilongjiang Province in 2011-2014 was approximately 118 million kilograms, 134 million kilograms, 140 million kilograms and 140 million kilograms respectively. It is estimated that demand for corn seeds in Heilongjiang Province in 2015 was 137 million kilograms.

In April 2016 (as of 8 April), market price of corn seeds was quite stable in the Chinese market.
