The OLT is an integral and important part of the Passive Optical Networks, which orchestrates and supervises all signal activity. Based on our survey of the vendors portfolios and the analysis available data we determined that E-PON and B-PON are two prevailing technologies. Geographically, E-PON dominates the Asian market, where high-speed data services are the major subscribers requirements. The structure of this market is based on IP-topology. In the U.S., where the services are more legacy-oriented, B-PON plays the major role. G-PON is also coming to the picture, but is less popular.

We analyzed the OLT market as derivative of the total PON market and provided various market characteristics.

The significance of this report is difficult to overestimate. The document analyzes a complex of issues associated with the development of OLTs, and we are evaluating the current trends and problems with telecommunications technology to support respective services.
