Abstract

SYNOPSIS

This report provides analysis on the deployment of home networking solutions by worldwide broadband service providers. It examines the role of residential gateways in enabling new applications and services and focuses on issues related to remote management and service provisioning features. The report provides forecasts for service provider-deployed home networks through 2013.

“Service providers are taking on a greater role in deploying, servicing, and now monetizing home networks,” said Kurt Scherf, vice president and principal analyst with Parks Associates. “Beyond basic broadband sharing applications, in-home connectivity is enabling new communications and entertainment services.”
