Challenging Start, Promising Future: LBS Development in China
|
Abstract
LBS in China began in 2001, but development was limited by factors including
terminal products, maps and demand. In 2007, LBS were still in the preliminary
development phases. China, however, has invested in 3G network construction on
a large scale, and 3G networks will significantly improve the quality of
mobile communications. 3G networks and terminals will support more precise
positioning technologies. Furthermore, China has more than 500 million mobile
communications users. These factors provide opportunities for large-scale LBS
development. This report analyzes the LBS development outlook in China by
examining key companies active in this sector.
