Abstract
This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent
quarter review of the Taiwanese tablet industry. The report includes shipment
volume and value, ASP, and product mix analysis. The content of this report is
based on primary data obtained through interviews with notebook PC makers. The
report finds that the Taiwanese tablet industry's shipment volume still
managed to witness sequential and year-on-year growth in the third quarter of
2012 albeit at a slower rate due to deferred purchases. Despite of the fact
that the share of tablets with screen sizes measuring 9- to 10.1-inches still
remained the largest in the third quarter, 7- to 9-inch tablets' share of the
total tablet shipment increased significantly to 26.7%. The share is
predicated to have eventually broken the 50% mark in the fourth quarter of
2012 and the industry's shipment volume will have enjoyed double digit
year-on-year and sequential growth in the fourth quarter of 2012. Looking
ahead to the first quarter of 2013, the industry's growth momentum will slow,
seeing a double-digit sequential decline again since the first quarter of 2012.
