This IDC study provides IDC's forecast for the worldwide and U.S. IS outsourcing (ISO) services market for the 2015-2019 forecast period. This study highlights key assumptions and drivers that are creating significant changes in this market. IDC expects that, at a worldwide level, the ISO market will decline at a five-year CAGR of 2.2%, reaching $103.0 billion in 2019.

"The IS outsourcing services market, also many times referred to as 'traditional' datacenter outsourcing, continues to be impacted by the fundamental transition in procuring outsourced services using traditional methods (e.g., more labor oriented) to using more automated methods in the form of cloud-based outsourced services," says David Tapper, VP, Outsourcing, Managed and Offshore Services at IDC. "Making the right adjustments and optimizing opportunities will require that service providers and outsourcers offer a value proposition focused on business value, develop a technology-'agnostic' approach, provide a broad set of capabilities across business functions and IT requirements, implement a business model that mimics the auto industry, pursue new markets focused on SMBs using new ecosystem partners and channel structures, and ensure that they can mitigate against potential litigation and regulatory pressures."
