This IDC study provides IDC's forecast for the worldwide and U.S. IS outsourcing services market for the 2013-2017 forecast period. This study highlights key assumptions and drivers that are creating significant changes in this market. IDC expects that at a worldwide level, the ISO market will grow at a five-year CAGR of 1.3%, reaching $129.3 billion in 2017.
"The IS outsourcing services market, also many times referred to as datacenter outsourcing, appears to be potentially facing an inflexion point in which cloud-based delivery models and new technologies will be increasingly cannibalizing this traditional market and placing increasing pressure on providers in this space to address the issue of whether or not they should shift to providing IS outsourcing using a cloud-based model of delivery and if this shift would align with their core competencies, capital structure, and culture," says David Tapper, VP, Outsourcing and Offshore Services at IDC. "Part of making this assessment requires that IS outsourcers first build a blueprint of the end state of the business model of a cloud provider, and its ecosystem, and then develop a road map of transformation to help them achieve reaching this end state, all of which will enable players to determine more accurately their position within this evolving market or need to exit out of this market."
