Abstract
This IDC study examines the communications market called personal IP
communications services, a subset of communications as a service (CaaS).
The study takes a look at how the market is
currently defined, the players in the market, the challenges for
the players, and how all these change as the market
continues to evolve and grow.
"Personal IP communications is the future
of real-time communications for the individual user. The amount of
interest and innovation surrounding this emerging market is staggering," says
Rebecca Swensen, analyst for IDC' s Mobility and IP Communications Services.
"IDC predicts that by 2013, total active subscribers using IP
communications in this market will be more than 1.8 billion."
