Abstract

This IDC Energy Insights report provides technology services buyers with an analysis of the large professional service firms that provide strategy-level sustainability services, specifically related to the utility industry. IDC Energy Insights evaluates vendors on the basis of their utility depth in areas such as smart metering/intelligent grid, energy efficiency and green products, greenhouse gas auditing and emissions trading, and financial advisory. In addition, we examine the strength of the service firms in utilities, looking at the size of the utility practice, commitment to innovative research and development, strength and number of sustainability reference customers, and sustainability thought leadership.

"Utilities are looking to their service providers to help with not only sustainability strategy but significant implementations of very specific initiatives intended to help them meet sustainability objectives," according to Jill Feblowitz, practice director, Business Technology at IDC Energy Insights.
