The Market For 10G & 40G Modules--June 2006
|
Abstract
In this new report CIR continues its coverage of the 10G and 40G modules
market. The report provides a completely updated and revised set of forecasts
from our last release in late 2005, reflecting among other things the
continued expansion of service provider and enterprise networks and the
increased optimism among optical networking and component manufacturers. While
we are not facing a return to the period beginning in late 1998 when the world
fell in love with optical networking and some of the fairytales that went with
it, the reality today is that companies are making money, backlogs are
building and margins are improving.
In addition to the extensive forecasting provided in both volume and value
terms and broken out the 10G/40G modules market by MSA, form factor, reach and
media type, the report also offers a rich discussion of enabling technologies,
an analysis of key applications, perspectives on the future of MSAs and
assessments of key modules suppliers.
Items Discussed In This Report:
- What will be future of 10GBase-LRM and 10GBase-T?
- Where are XFP and SFP+ headed?
- Do equipment companies plan to purchase 10 Gbps and 40 Gbps transponders
or will they manufacture internally?
- How goes the "battle" between DWDM and 40 Gbps?
- What is the timeline and migration path to 10 GigE?
- 10 GigE fiber vs 10 GigE copper? What about POF?
- Where will the first revenues in the 40 Gbps modules sector be found?
- What is the future of dispersion control?
- What percentage of modules will be tunable over the next few years?
