原文目次

Abstract

Bishop and Associates has just released a new eight-Chapter research report covering the World Telecom Market for Connectors. This report provides a comprehensive analysis of connector usage in the wireless, wireline carrier, enterprise and cable/MSO network sectors of the world telecom equipment market. Statistics are presented showing historical and forecast connector shipments to the telecom industry for the years 2006 through 2012.

This new report examines recent and ongoing impacts to this key end-use industry for connectors, including the following:

  • The shift to the IP-based architecture is creating simpler, flatter, more efficient and less costly to operate networks that support voice, broadband data and video services.
  • Market consolidation continues to reduce the number of service providers, thereby increasing competition among telecom equipment makers.
  • Packaging efficiency is enabling functional consolidation of network elements, which reduces the number of network elements, and their associated interconnect products.
  • Competition among service providers continues to drive capital investment (CAPEX).
  • The quest to provide "triple play" bundled services is driving fiber extension initiatives by wireline and cable/MSO carriers.

Bishop & Associates believes that the combined impact of these developments on the telecom market is transformational rather than cyclical.

To illustrate the above, charts depicting historical and forecast connector shipments to the telecom industry are provided for the years 2006 through 2012.

The forecast values of connector shipments reflect the current liquidity crisis.

Values and growth rates of connector consumption are identified by family for more than seventy categories of equipment for the years 2006 through 2012. New to this report is an analysis of the cable/MSO segment of the market. Also, the enterprise segment has been expanded to include structured wiring apparatus and the wireline carrier segment has been expanded to include outside plant (OSP) apparatus.

The objective of this report is to create a single, comprehensive and authoritative analysis of connector consumption for rapidly changing telecom end-use equipment industry.

Specifically, the objectives are to:

  • Put the impacts of triple play competition into perspective.
  • Establish a new baseline for monitoring and forecasting future connector consumption and growth in the telecom market.
  • Provide new forecast of connector factory shipments and growth rates for each category of telecom equipment for the years 2009 through 2012.
  • Examine trends and developments within each segment that impact growth opportunities for connectors.
