In dollar figures, the global smart card market was worth $4.7 billion in
2011. It is expected to reach nearly $5.1 billion in 2012 and $7.3 billion in
2017, at a CAGR of 7.4%.
In 2011, 980 million cards were shipped in North America. In dollar
figures the North American smart card market reached $775 million in 2011. The
market is expected to reach $833 million in 2012 and $1.1 billion by 2017, a
CAGR of 6.3%.
